Evans Mills Students Celebrate Flag Day

Posted: Updated:

Students at Evans Mills Primary School celebrated an annual tradition honoring Flag Day on Wednesday.

Kindergarten through third grade students paraded through the streets, performing patriotic songs and flying hundreds of American flags.

The school's principal explains why Flag Day means so much in Evans Mills.

"Many of our families are military families here. We have dads and moms who are deployed. It's a great combination of having the whole country come together as a school," said Pam Knight, school principal.

The school also hosted an essay contest for students to write about why the flag is so important.
