Adult Daycare Helps Seniors Stay Active

Bhanumati Vora is part of the Adult Day Health Care Program at Lewis County General Hospital. It's a place that allows her to stay active and healthy with supervised crafts, exercises and companionship.

Vora says this program helps.

"My nurses are all so amazing. They say, 'Don't worry, Bhanumati, we are here for you,'" she said.

The program offers medical and other care to older adults in need. Nurses are on staff to assist with medical attention and dietary needs.

The daycare helps older adults who need assistance during the day and it also gives them the opportunity to maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle.

"It's just nice to have a program like this that people can stay home with their families and still get the care that they need," said Mackenzie Bellinger, director.

Vora's daughter-in-law, Sheree Vora, says the daycare program shows a big difference in her mother's life.

"When they get here in the morning and they leave in the afternoon, they leave with a smile and more energy than when they got here," she said.

The adult daycare at Lewis County General is open every day and it currently cares for 20 people.
