Carthage Specialty Paperboard and its United Steel Workers union employees reached agreement Thursday on a five-year deal.
Union representative Jack VanderBaan says union members approved the deal overwhelmingly and didn't have to make any concessions.
The contract takes effect July1 and calls for a 10 percent wage hike over the five years.
"The increases in contracts are a very good sign that the company is looking to stay and continue to make a go of this business. We look forward to having a good working relationship with the new management," said VanderBaan.
The deal also allows workers to keep their health care coverage and life insurance coverage is increased.
It also includes increases in shift differential payments and the company's match for the employees' 401(k) accounts.
On another note, Carthage Specialty Paperboard is paid up on its current bill with West Carthage for water and sewer - something that the company was behind on earlier this year.
