Many Organizations Pay Tribute To Fallen TrooperPosted: Updated:
An organization that Trooper Joel Davis was close with has its own way to honor him.
Davis, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Sunday, was a coach and a director of Evans Mills Youth Baseball.
Some players set up a tribute for him on home plate in Evans Mills -- and started to set up a foundation in Davis' name with the Northern New York Community Foundation.
"He was dedicated to what he needed to do and he was a happy-go-lucky guy, he was always smiling and nothing ever got him down," the baseball league's Harry Faulk Jr. said. "The league lost a great guy."
There are also plans for a little league baseball game in August in Davis' honor.
The Northern New York Community Foundation now has a link on its website for people to donate to what's being called the "Trooper Joel R. Davis Foundation."
Details about that foundation are expected soon.
Emergency workers from across the nation are honoring Davis on social media.
Police and fire departments from far and wide -- including the Anaheim Police Department in California -- are taking time to share their thoughts and prayers with Davis and his family on a number of social media sites.
