City Finds More Thompson Park Rock Wall That Needs Repair

Posted: Updated:

There is another section of rock wall at Thompson Park that needs repairs.

The city has blocked off part of a wall near the Franklin Street entrance.

A few weeks ago the city learned another stretch of wall was becoming unstable.

The wall is being inspected before a decision on how to repair it is made.

For now, city officials say, repairing the wall that collapsed a couple of weeks ago comes first.

"First priority is getting the collapsed section plans in place for the replacement of that wall," city engineer Justin Wood said. "Get the area stabilized and safe, and we'll continue to look at how we're gonna approach repairs of the other retaining wall."

Officials say repairs to the second wall could be a bigger project than repairing the collapsed section.

There's no time frame yet for when those repairs will begin and repairs on the collapsed wall are still several weeks out.
