Jefferson County Fair's Last Day, Attendance Up

Posted: Updated:

Good weather was a blessing for the 200th Jefferson County Fair. An estimated 60,000 people attended this year.

Sunday was the last hurrah for the celebration. Fair president Bob Simpson said attendance is up 10,000 people from last year. Simpson said he thinks it's thanks that good weather and free attendance.

One of the final events Sunday morning was the rabbit show. Competitors were vying to win best rabbit in show. 11 year-old Raistlin Metler-Klemenz took home the trophy and he told us what it takes to win.

"You have to groom them, make them pose, practice with them posing."

And when one fair ends, another begins. Tuesday is opening day at the Lewis County Fair, which will go until Saturday.
