Despite Injury, Warriors Getting Ready To Tackle New Season

Posted: Updated:

The Indian River Warriors are always in the mix on the high school gridiron, but this season they have a big injury to cope with.

Brandon Smith injured his knee in lacrosse, so the talented ball carrier will be lost for part of the season.

Coach Cory Marsell said "our hope is that he's going to be ready at some point throughout the season, but we don't know when and we don't know if he'll be at full speed or not."

"I'm hoping to get back by at least mid-season," Smith said. "I'm just going to physical therapy every day, just trying to rebuild it and come back."

Injuries aren't the only thing that produces question marks. Indian River's roster is always in flux because many of the students' parents are stationed at Fort Drum and could be reassigned at any time.

You can hear more from Marsell, Smith, and other players in the video.
