Gold Star Deli Owner Wins $30K Lottery At His Own Store

Posted: Updated:

After more than 30 years of seeing others win the lottery at his store, the owner of Gold Star Deli in Watertown has hit his own jackpot.

Scott Hirst won $30,000 on a Take 5 drawing this week using the same numbers he has been playing for 24 years.

Gold Star Deli is the shop that Gary McGivney hit his $56.6 million jackpot at in 2005.

Hirst says while it's not that much, his winning the ticket brings things full circle.

"Regardless of what people think, the fact of the matter is they do give this away. People do win every week. Millionaires are made. I didn't get a million, but my $30,000 isn't too bad," he said.

Hirst says he won't continue to play the same numbers; he'll probably use random ones for the Take 5 game.
