There's a change of scenery on Route 26 near Fort Drum.
State crews installed large girders for the Nash Boulevard bridge just outside Great Bend over the weekend.
It'll connect the north and south parts of Fort Drum, keeping a secured route, by going over Route 26.
The next step for state Department of Transportation crews is setting cross braces and forming the bridge.
"Hopefully, inside of probably four to six weeks, the bridge will have a deck on it. After that, we'll start with guide rails and the deck has to be grooved and sealed. There's any one of a number of things we have to do. We have to complete the bridge, but it's coming along very well," said Mike Flick, DOT spokesperson.
Construction is expected to be finished by next August.
