Posted: Updated:

A U.S. Senator is battling the opioid epidemic by trying to reduce the length of prescriptions.

In Lowville Tuesday, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D. - NY) announced the Opioid Addiction Prevention Act.

The bill would limit opioid prescriptions to seven days for patients with acute pain.

It would also prevent doctors from allowing refills on a first opioid prescription for patients with acute pain.
