This Auction in Sackets Harbor Gives "Chair-ity" a New Meaning

Posted: Updated:

It's called a "Chair-ity" Auction..

Just like its name suggests, over 40 chairs and benches were up for auction Saturday at the Union Hotel in Sackets Harbor. Basically anything that was chair related could have been donated, some were even decorated. The auction was put on by the Hay Memorial Library in Sackets Harbor

So why chairs?

"It's just a fun play of words, "Chairity" event," Katie Male-Riordan, Hay Memorial Library Director said. "We thought it'd be fun, people came out and they decorated different chairs or donated antiques or there's some hand-crafted items here."

The money raised is going to help the Hay Memorial Library renovate its community room, which is used for many of its events.
