Quencer Honored For Volunteer Work

Posted: Updated:

A Watertown lawyer was honored Thursday night for her work in the community.

Catherine Quencer received this year's Athena Award at a dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn in Watertown.

Quencer works with the Schwerzmann and Wise law firm and sits on a number of volunteer committees, many of which are related to healthcare.

She says she gets a lot out of her volunteer work.

"I think you learn so much," she said. "You meet great people, they inspire you and you can inspire them, and you can help mentor younger people to get involved in the community, too -- it's exciting. It's the learning new things, I think, all the time that makes it the best."

The Athena Award is given out each year by the Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce to a woman who excels in community involvement, professionalism, and leadership.
