Running to remember those who battled addiction, running for recovery.
200 people took part in the 9th annual Run for Recovery Saturday morning at the fairgrounds in Watertown. The 5k and 10k races are put on by Watertown's Urban Mission. The event supports the Urban Mission's BRIDGE program, which paves the way for addicts to seek treatment and recovery.
Jessica Piatt, director of development with the Watertown Urban Mission said, "It's really something that extends beyond raising money. It's raising awareness, it reduces the stigma... it's really a prevalent issue in our area and we're really here to spread the word about what we do.
The proceeds from the race registration go directly towards the program. 7 News is proud sponsor of the Run for Recovery.
