Two people were arrested after police allegedly found heroin in their car.

Members of the Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force say 26 year old Zachariah Ellis of Lowville was driving the car when sheriff's deputies pulled it over in a routine stop on Route 11 in the town of Adams Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they searched the vehicle and found 380 envelopes of heroin.

Ellis and a passenger, 27 year old Nicholas Deegan of Dexter, were each charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

They were both arraigned in Watertown city court. Deegan was jailed without bail and Ellis was held on $20,000 bail.

Police say their investigation continues.
