A Bronx man was taken to the emergency room after he allegedly ingested bags of crack cocaine when police pulled over the car he was in.
Ogdensburg city police say 23 year old Manuel Gonzalez was one of three people in a car they pulled over for a traffic violation Monday evening.
A search by a police dog revealed Gonzalez was hiding a quantity of both crack and heroin.
Police say they took Gonzalez to Claxton-Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg after they discovered he had swallowed "several corner bags" of crack.
He was later released back into police custody and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
Gonzalez was arraigned in Ogdensburg city court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $50,000 bail.
