Students Can Compete For Which Nonprofits Get Grants

Posted: Updated:

Jefferson County students now have a chance to compete for grants for their favorite charities.

The Northern New York Community Foundation and Stage Notes are launching the Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge on October 10.

Students in seventh and eighth grades are eligible to compete for a total of $10,000 for nonprofits that the students will recommend.

Foundation officials say the idea is to help students explore their sense of community and to help nonprofits that embody what the students feel make their community great.

Students have to answer questions on an official entry form that will be available at schools, the Foundation offices (131 Washington Street in Watertown) on at www.nnycf.org.

Entries must be complete by November 3. The number of winners and the size of the individual grants will be based on the number of entries.
