Convergys Adding 80 New Jobs At Watertown Call Center

Posted: Updated:

Later this fall, Convergys will have more people in its Watertown call center. A healthcare client has given the company a new line of business.

"They've awarded us 80 new positions that launched in September," said Reese Wheeler, recruiter.

Convergys says the jobs were awarded to the Arsenal Street business because the client is happy with the employees there.

Convergys can't say who the client is, but the positions they are hiring for are healthcare advisors. The jobs are full-time with pay at $11.50 a hour, plus benefits.

Employees will also get a $500 bonus after graduating training, which is 5 weeks of classroom training and 2 weeks of on-the-job training.

"I actually have 3 trainers out with the client right now, learning how to train this new line of business for them and they will be back in several weeks eager to start and train all our new folks coming in," said Jerry VanWormer, training manager.

Convergys says it has already begun hiring for the 80 new positions. The company currently employs about 700 people.

"Convergys represents several large scale clients and we're still actively taking applications for those clients as well as filling the 80 positions available," said Wheeler.

The first group of new employees will be starting as soon as the end of this month.

The training will begin October 23.
