Group in Copenhagen Honored For Saving Neighbor's Life

Posted: Updated:

About 8 weeks ago, area race car driver Ray Bancroft had an accident in his garage while working on his car, that's when a group of neighbors came to the rescue.

Today, those neighbors that saved his life were honored at the Copenhagen Fire Hall during a spaghetti dinner benefit to honor Bancroft.

A member of the Lewis County Board of Legislators gave a heroes proclamation to the neighbors: Amanda Gaines, Jack Santamore, Rose Vincent, Dwayne St. Louis, Jeanette St. Louis, and Heidi Santamore

Bancroft's wife says they greatly appreciate the community's support.

"Just people pulling together for this cause, It just blows my mind. You know, these people are not just our friends, they are our family," said Kathy Bancroft.

Bancroft had to have his right arm amputated.

Proceeds from the Spaghetti Dinner go toward Bancroft's medical expenses to include another surgery and his prosthetic.
