St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies are crediting the public for its help tracking down the car and driver involved in a hit-and-run accident with an Amish buggy Monday.

Deputies say the driver was 79 year old Eleanor Willard of Heuvelton. She was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident and following too closely.

The accident happened shortly before noon Monday on State Route 184 in the town of Oswegatchie.

The driver of the buggy was treated at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg and released the same day.

Willard will answer the charges in Oswegatchie town court at a later date.
