The Guilfoyle paramedics responded to call and found a man sitting in a chair inside his home complaining of chest pain.
The man went into cardiac arrest while the paramedics were trying to get vitals.
They performed CPR and ended up shocking him several times with a defibrillator.
The paramedics transported him to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
From there he was transferred to St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, where he was implanted with an internal defibrillator and pacemaker.
