The Apparent Winners for County Legislatures

There were a few races in Jefferson and Lewis counties for county legislature.

In Jefferson County Legislature District 1, which represents the Cape Vincent and Clayton area, longtime lawmaker Mike Docteur is retiring.

Republican Robert Cantwell III is the apparent winner with 996 votes over Democrat Joe Hughes who vote 904 votes.    

In Jefferson County Legislature District 6, Republican incumbent Daniel McBride received 388 votes, while Democrat Rachael Vary  received 271.

In Lewis County Legislature District 1, which represents parts of Croghan and Diana, Phil Hathaway, the Republican who holds the seat is retiring.

The apparent winner there is Republican John Lehman with 278 votes to Democrat Ricky Taylor's 260 votes.

Lewis County Legislature District 2, Chairman Mike Tabolt decided not to run for re-election.  

The seat will apparently be taken over by Democrat Randall LaChausse, who had 382 votes. Republican Brenda Chartrand got 232 votes.

In Lewis County Legislature District 5, incumbent Democrat Richard Chartrand is the apparent winner with 470 votes. Republican Erik Griffin had 164 votes.
