A vigil was held at Samaritan Medical Center Wednesday to raise awareness for people with lung cancer.
Dozens of luminaries lined the walkway and windows of the hospital's rotunda.
It's part of a national campaign called "shine the light" which aims to decrease the stigma around lung cancer and tell people what services and treatments are available.
"We have great doctors available, we can help you and you can get your cancer care close to home," said Bonnie Eppolito, who's Samaritan's director of major gifts and planned giving."
"Specific to lung cancer," she said, "every cancer seems to have its month, but hopefully the takeaway is that it's all the time."
Samaritan officials say lung cancer is the leading cause of death among all cancers.
7 News anchor Jeff Cole hosted the vigil.
