Local Foods To Be Featured At Fort Drum CommissaryPosted: Updated:
Fort Drum families, servicemen and retires are invited enjoy a taste of the North Country by visiting the Fort Drum Commissary Taste-Testing Fair.
The fair will feature locally grown and produced foods.
Registered dietitian Cathy Moore of Cornell Cooperative Extension appeared on 7 News at Noon on Friday to talk about the event. Click on the picture to watch her interview.
As part of a Cornell Cooperative Extension Food Hub and local foods initiative, farmers from across the North County are showcasing their value added products. Participants can be part of the judging process by indicating their preferred product.
Many of the products will also be available for sale.
The fair will be held Friday, November 17 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Fort Drum Commissary, 10730C Enduring Freedom Drive, Fort Drum.
Popular products will have a chance to become a permanent item stocked in the deli.
Foods will include goat cheeses, cheese curd, Chevre cheese, maple products including vinaigrettes, maple meat rubs, maple cookies, pickled cabbage sauce, beef jerky, meat sticks, sausages, honey, applesauce and more.
