Francis “Chisky” Perry Sr., 83, of Massena

Francis “Chisky” Perry Sr., 83, peacefully returned to his heavenly home on December 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, following a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

Chisky was born to the late Salvadore and Mary (Marando) Perry, proud Italian immigrants, on November 28, 1934. He graduated from Massena High School in 1953, where he was a star football player and wrestler. He was a member of the 1951 and 1952 Massena High School Hall of Fame Football Team. From 1954 until 1957 he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

In 1959 he married Marian Beaudoin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Massena, NY. Together they had 6 children. Marian went to the Lord March 3, 1993. On April 1,1995 he married Marie Chuisano from Brooklyn NY.  He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s and later Sacred Heart Catholic Church along with his wife Marie.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #79.

Francis was employed by General Motors for 32 years as a Journeyman Machine Repairman and a proud member of the UAW Local 465 where he served as a Skilled Trades Committeeman. His love of learning also helped him become a NYS Certified Master Mechanic from Brockport University.

Chisky was blessed with a large and loving family. Together with Marian, he helped raise his children with patience, discipline and humility. He taught his children faith in God, the value of family, honesty, and hard work. He was a kind and generous man and loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his devotion to his family, his love of the outdoors was incredible. He taught this love of nature to his children and grandchildren through the many camping trips they took as a family.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a great love for hunting at Slush Pond, Barnum Pond, Jenkins Mountain and Southern Tier, not just with his brothers and hunting buddies, but with his son and best friend Frank Jr.  He took several trips to St Ann Du Lac in Canada for Trout fishing. He was also a great bowler, and enjoyed his league bowling well into his 70’s.  Then there was golfing. He loved to golf with his brothers, his son, sons in law and as time went on, his grandsons. Chisky loved playing cards, with his brothers, his wife, his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marie; his children, Debra (Cristen) Harlander, Camden NY, Rosaline (Keith) Smith, Odenton MD, Frances (Allen) Oakes, Chittenango NY, Francis (Gretchen) Perry Jr, Virginia Beach, VA and Tammy (Jim) Hewitt, Fayetteville NY; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Micky, Clovis CA, Ella, and Maryjane, Massena NY, his brother Victor (Ollie) Perry, John (Yvette) Perry also of Massena; his sisters in law, Marge Perry, Georgette Perry, Carol Perry, Debbie Perry and brother in law Dominic Trimboli. He also has many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Francis was predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Marian, his son Edmond, his brothers Salvatore, Joseph, Anthony and Robert; his sisters Rosaline, Annie, and Betty.
