Bernard A. Michaud, 92, of Norfolk

Norfolk: Bernard A. Michaud, 92, of State Highway 420, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Burial will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.

Bernard was born on December 2, 1925 in Massena, NY, the son of the late George and Melinda (Venia) Michaud. He served in the US Army during WWII and received a Bronze Star for bravery and courage. Bernard worked at ALCOA for 43 years, retiring in 1986. He married Elaine Ploof on October 16, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gerald Kellogg officiating. She later predeceased him in 2011.  At one time he was the Commander of the Massena VFW 1143. Bernard enjoyed playing horseshoes and doing puzzles as well as spending time with his family at camp in St. Regis Falls where he would hunt and fish. 

Bernard is survived by his two sons, Peter and wife Cynthia Michaud of Norfolk and Michael Michaud; a daughter, Anne and husband Timothy Crowley of Brasher, NY; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and three step grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and wife Lois Michaud of Brasher and Leland Michaud of CA.

He was predeceased by two sons and one daughter, James in 1964, Timothy in 1968 and Melinda in 1978; ten brothers and five sisters

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice for the wonderful care that their father received. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
