Ogdensburg Airport Passenger Boardings Fly Sky High

Posted: Updated:

Ogdensburg International Airport has soared to a new record for passenger boardings. It's driven by a longer runway and more destinations.

Cape Air airline broke records in August and October for passenger boardings. And newer arrival Allegiant Air added flights this fall to St. Pete/Clearwater.

The airport has already boarded 28,000 passengers this year. That's five times as many as in any previous year.

“It really comes down to the value they provide. They have direct service to Albany and then on to Boston at a really low cost. Passengers recognize that. And here at Ogdensburg we're all about the low cost,” said Wade Davis, director of the Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority.

The Cape Air and Allegiant passengers come from the north country as well as the Ontario and Quebec provinces in Canada.
