Ready Or Not: Winter Weather ArrivesPosted: Updated:
The weather outside is frightful, and, well, you know how it goes.
The holiday song came to life Thursday as lake effect snow hit the north country.
"We're the snow capital of America. A few years ago we obtained that title and we haven't lost it since." said Patrick Mahar, town of Denmark highway superintendent.
The snow came down hard across the region, including Watertown and Carthage.
Almost as soon as it hit, the clean-up began. Plow trucks big and small took to the streets.
And over in Copenhagen, the sidewalks were cleared, too.
Longtime north country residents say love it or hate it, it doesn't really matter, as long as you're used to it.
"It's here. Snowmobilers love it. Maybe some people don't like it," said John Swinyer, Copenhagen resident.
"I don't like it as much as I did when it was younger, but it's alright. We know it's coming," said Ron Gaines, Copenhagen resident.
For some, the snow means avoiding the elements.
"Stay inside where it's warm," said Gaines.
But others say you still have to get some fresh air once in a while.
"I take my walks, get out and just try to get some exercise. You can't always stay inside all winter," said Swinyer.
So no matter how you feel about it, or whether you're ready or not, the snow is back.
