The funeral for Richard E. Kelley, 87, Adams Center, will be 11:00am Saturday, December 9th at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Alford officiating. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, December 8th at the funeral home. Masonic Service will be at 3:30 prior to calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Rodman.
Mr. Kelley passed away Wednesday, December 6th at the Samaritan Keep Home where he had resided since June of this year.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise Burt Kelley, his children, Julie (Brian Mancroni) Kelley, Frederick, MD; Amy (Charles) Kelley Lyttle, Rodman, NY; Todd Richard (Diane) Kelley, West Lafayette, IN; his brother, Francis H. Kelley, Branford, CT; grandchildren, Ben (Kristen) Mancroni, Mariah Mancroni Wilson, Heather (Scott) Lyttle MacPherson, Mikayla (Troy) Lyttle Darrah, Mark Kelley, Kathryn Kelley, Alyssa Kelley, Ashley Kelley and one great-grandchild Walter Scott MacPherson V. (Wally).
Richard was born in Rodman, NY, June 14, 1930 to Mark and Muriel Edmonds Kelley. He married Louise Burt December 29, 1962 in Adams Center, NY. He graduated from Adams Center School in 1948 and went on to attend Delhi graduating in 1950.
Throughout the years he worked in construction working for Behr Manning and then established Kelley Construction in 1956 where he went on to build several homes in the Adams area. He went to work for New York State Department of Transportation, Watertown, as a Principal Engineering Technician, retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service.
Richard and Louise spent the winter months in Englewood, Fl. for 18 years. They loved to travel especially to Hawaii and Alaska. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his beloved family and friends. Richard was a volunteer fireman for several years for the Rodman Fire Department.
