Beverly H. Tunison-Shelato, age 89 of Chippewa Bay and N. Ft Myers, FL passed away Tuesday (Dec 19, 2017) at the Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, FL.
There will be a private burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with a memorial service planned for Tuesday (Aug 7, 2018) at 1:00pm at the Cemetery.
Surviving is her husband Robert Shelato along with many cousins.
Beverly was born on May 31, 1928 in Chippewa Bay, NY a daughter of the late Robert & Genevieve (Dyer) Heron. She graduated from Hammond High School in 1945, and continued her education at the Watertown School of Commerce. She later married Charles S. Bourdon on Oct 8, 1949, he predeceased her on July 15, 1965. She was again married on Jan 6, 1973 to Robert C. Tunison. He also predeceased her. She again found love and was married to Robert Shelato on August 8, 2007.
During her career she worked at the Monticello Hotel in Alexandria Bay and later became a licensed insurance agent. She and her husband Charles owned the St. Lawrence Insurance Agency in Chippewa Bay until 1972 when it was sold. She also worked as the Hammond Town Clerk from 1965 until 1967, and later became the Director of the Citizens National Bank in Hammond from 1973, until her retirement in 1994.
Beverly was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hammond, a member of the Valley of Thousand Island #382 in Morristown, Past Matron and District Deputy of the Order of Eastern Stars, a United Helpers Nursing Home Board Member, The Pleasant Valley Cemetery Association secretary and a member of the Chippewa Bay Community Center.
She enjoyed watching her husband play Bocce ball and Shuffle Board, being active in organizations and spending time with friends.
