Gene D. Bolton, 66, of WatertownPosted: Updated:
Gene D. Bolton, 66 of Floral Drive passed away peacefully at home early Thursday, December 21st surrounded by his loving wife, Sandy, sons Joel, Jeffrey, Gene and sister, Cathy.
Gene was born December 18, 1951 in Watertown, the second son of Clark and Martha Bolton. He attended Watertown Schools and Potsdam State.
On January 26, 1976, he married Sandra Jane Sweredoski. Gene worked the Lewis County Route at the United Parcel Service where he held a perfect driving record until his retirement in 2007 after 30 years of service.
Gene was bitten by the “sports bug” when he joined Little League as 3rd baseman at Rand Memorial Field. From there, there was no stopping him and no sport he couldn’t play.
To say Gene was an active sportsman was a BIG understatement. He enjoyed a lifelong passion of hunting and fishing with his sons, brothers, and friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was ALWAYS the life of the party! Gene won the Watertown City Tennis Championship in 1977 and 1978. In ’78 he played his best friend Jim Lawler in the final match.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, sons Joel (wife Shannon, children Ellie and Clark) of North Carolina, Jeffrey (wife Theresa, children Allie and Liam) of Buffalo, Captain Gene and 1st mate Samantha Cota of Watertown; 2 brothers Michael of Grass Lake and Steven of Unadilla and 2 sisters Sally Burnett of Zephyrhills, FL and Cathy Dayberry of Ft. Worth, TX. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday, December 23rd from 2-5:00pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. A memorial service will follow at 5:00pm at the funeral home.
