PARISHVILLE – Mr. Malcolm R. “Micky” Smith, 74, of the Old Potsdam-Parishville Road, peacefully passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 20, 2017 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Micky was born April 7, 1943 in Parishville, the son of the late Clifton and Lillian Munson Smith. He attended schools in Parishville and later achieved his GED while in the Army. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1965-1968 and with the Reserves until his discharge in 1971. On July 6, 1996, he married Peggy Reed at their home in Parishville with Justice Dean Wilson, officiating.
Micky was an autobody repairman, working for Curtis Motors for a time before opening his own shop. He later went to work for Terry LaFleur Collision retiring in 1993. He enjoyed his grandchildren, his beloved dog Zeus, and doing good for people. Micky also cherished the time he was able to spend outside, cutting wood, and camping.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; his children, Larci Collins of Hopkinton; Malcolm R. Smith Jr. “Joe” of Massena; and Michelle Parker-Smith of Norfolk; his brothers, Robert Smith of Madrid; Bernard “Bunny” Smith of Hopkinton; Donald Smith of Parishville; and Paul “Frank” Smith of Florida; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Webster.
Friends may call Tuesday 11-1:00 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Lee Sweeney, officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider memorial donations to the Parishville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
