What Are Last-Minute Holiday Shoppers Looking For?Posted: Updated:
Shoppers took to the Salmon Run Mall to get last-minute shopping done the day before Christmas.
Some say they cut it close simply because of procrastination, while others say bad weather kept them from hitting the stores sooner.
All had a mission though.
"I'm shopping for the whole family; my mom, boyfriend, dad, everybody," said Gouverneur resident Hailey Rheome.
"I'm looking for a couple of things for my grandkids. I've got two little grandbabies," said Adams resident Deanne Roach.
Many shoppers said most of their gifts are already bought and wrapped, but a trip for a few more items doesn't hurt.
"We noticed a lot of clients coming in for stocking stuffers and those last-minute items that they really just want to make Christmas special for this year," said Brittany Tracey, a worker at Sephora in JC Penney.
Some shoppers say they like to take advantage of last-minute deals.
"My son's girlfriend, there's something that she really wants and I found it last night really marked down," said Watertown resident Celeste Kiblin. "I had a coupon at home so I went home and came back."
Others say waiting til the last minute gets them into the holiday spirit. However, some still don't like the cut it this close.
Deanne Roach / Adams Resident: "I usually like to have everything done so I don't have to rush, but there's been a few things this year that put a little crink in my plans," said Roach.
As long as the gifts make it under the tree by Christmas morning though, they say they're alright.
