H. Gordon Bailey passed away at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at the age of 88.

He was born on September 7, 1929 in Binghamton, NY to the late Eugene Bailey and Christine Belleville Bailey.

He was a life long farmer, worked on the railroad in Syracuse, had his own refrigeration and air conditioning business, and was a refrigeration and air conditioning instructor at Watertown Correctional Facility, retiring in 1995. He was active with Jefferson County Board of Elections, running voting machines.

Gordon was a life long resident of Eastline Road in Clayton, NY. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His passion was tending to his cows on his farm.

He is predeceased in death by his wife, Marilyn, on February 22, 1994; his son David who died in infancy; his brother Joseph in infancy; his sister Jeanne Marie Moore of California; his sister Sylvia Cory of Texas; his brother Richard Bailey of Schoharie, NY; his brother Bruce Bailey of Cape Vincent, NY; his sister Armelia Halsmaier of California; and his sister Sr. Christine Helen Capalbo of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Watertown, NY.

He is survived by his children, Gordon M. (Shirley) Bailey of Clayton, NY and Mary C. (Sam) Scudera of Clayton, NY. Also surviving, his brother Emmanuel Bailey of Saranac Lake, NY; sister Patricia (John) Doldo of Watertown, NY; brother Peter Bailey of Watertown, NY; five grandchildren, Shannon (Dawn) Scudera, Jenny (David) Scudder, MaryRose (James) Smith, Amanda Patchin and companion, Scott Hanson, and Sam (Rachel) Scudera; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton on Thursday, December 28, from 4 - 7PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Friday, December 29, at 10:15AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 11AM with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding. Private burial will be in the spring at the family's convenience in St. Mary's Cemetery.
