Anna P. Carhart, 85, of Watertown

Anna P. Carhart passed away peacefully on December 25th at Hospice of Jefferson County with family at her side.

She was born in Syracuse, NY on January 9, 1932, the daughter of William and Sybil Porter. She was united in marriage to Donald J. Carhart on June 30, 1951 in Fayetteville, NY. Donald passed away in 2013 after 61 years of marriage.

She made a home for her family in several different places, including Fayetteville and Voorheesville NY, as Donald moved for his work with Conrail. She was dedicated homemaker, who loved cooking and baking for her family. After the death of her husband, she moved to Watertown, NY where she was a resident of Ives Hill Retirement Community. She enjoyed being a part of the senior community, taking care of their library and spending time with her family, including her great grandchildren.

She is survived by their 5 children and spouses, Deborah (Ross Devendorf), James (Mary), Mary Savaria (Art), Ann Sutton (Richard) and Susan; their grandchildren, Patrick Ryan (Erin), Kelly Ryan (Wayne), Stephanie Sutton, Matthew (Sarah) Carhart, Sara (Brian) Helmes, Heather Savaria (Rich Koonz), Chris Sutton, Andrew Carhart and Chelsea Sutton; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ashlynn, Colin, Lucy, Charlie, Keegan, Connell; 3 sisters Helen Driscoll, Verna (Ronnie) Solomon, Betty Geary and sister-in-law Beverly Porter.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Ryan Savaria; and her sister Katherine Taylor and brother William Porter.

A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date in Old Forge, NY, where she will rest with her husband. For those who wish, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601 or at jeffersonhospice.org
