Funeral services for Florence R. “Flossie” Planty, age 89 of Lisbon and formerly of Rensselaer Falls will be held at 11:00am on Monday (Jan 1, 2018) at the Lisbon Wesleyan Church with Pastors Floyd McCallum and son in law Gary Jarrett concelebrating. Burial will be in the spring at White Church Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday (Dec 31, 2017) from 2:00-6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Planty went into the arms of Jesus on Thursday (Dec 28th) surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving is a son Channy (Susan) Planty of Rensselaer Falls; two daughters Dorotha (Gary) Jarrett of Bloomsburg, PA and Yvonne (Paul) McGrath of Lisbon; brothers David “Peanut” Beldock, Lewis Beldock and Clifford Baldock; sisters Elsie Carr and Elaine Hawk; 8 grandchildren, Lisa (Randy) Hubbard, Jason Planty, Jamie (Claude) Bennett, Annette (Zeeshan) Hayett, Gidget (Beau) Hamner, David (Caroline) Jarrett, Adam (Lauren) McGrath, Ashley (Cory) Dodgens; 3 step-grandchildren; 12 great-greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Her son Eric Planty and five brothers James, Francis, Edwin, Webster and Carl predeceased her.
Flossie was born on February 16, 1928 in Brier Hill, NY, a daughter of the late James & Florence (Shampine) Baldock. She attended schools in Morristown and Lisbon and later married Maynard C. Planty on May 18, 1953 at the Lisbon Wesleyan Church with Rev. Alton Seaman officiating. He later predeceased her.
During her career she worked at Cleveland Container, McConville Hotel, McCadam Cheese, Edge of Town, and The Pennysaver, until caring for her mother in her elder years. She was a member of the Lisbon Wesleyan Church and enjoyed going for rides with her grandchildren, boating, snowmobiling, motorcycling, gardening, being outdoors, reading her bible, singing, playing UNO, adventures, laughing, animals, being active and spending time with her family.
