Governor Cuomo Vetoes Adoption Bill

Posted: Updated:

Governor Andrew Cuomo has vetoed an adoption bill that would allow adoptees to petition a court for their birth records.

The bill would also allow birth parents to have their names redacted if they wished to remain anonymous. Cuomo shot the measure down, calling it a difficult issue that lacks consensus. He's directing the Department of Health to further study the issue.
