One person was taken to SUNY Upstate in Syracuse after a snowmobile accident in the town of Montague Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at 10:13 a.m on Flat Rock Road.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office said Jason Barney, 38, of Brewerton, was heading east on his 2016 Polaris Pro 875cc snowmobile, when he lost control due to an unsafe speed. That's when his snowmobile struck the snowbank on the left side of the trail, overturning his snowmobile "several times."
Rylin Turley, 18, of Brewerton, was following behind Barney on a snowmobile. The sheriff's department's report said Turley's snowmobile was unable to avoid striking Barney's snowmobile.
Turley was not injured.
The investigation is continuing.
