Lewis County Legislator 'Rocky' Fawcett DiesPosted: Updated:
A Lewis County legislator has died.
County officials say Roscoe "Rocky" Fawcett Jr. died in Connecticut on Monday with his family by his side.
Fawcett, who represented District 9, was 81.
The district covers Lyonsdale and Greig.
Fawcett, a Republican, was elected to his second two-year term in November.
District 7 Legislator Greg Kulzer, told 7 News that Fawcett was "always good to work with."
"Rocky was an intelligent , enthusiastic public servant," county manager Ryan Piche said. He had a good get-things-done attitude and he will be missed."
"Rocky did a lot to try and move the county forward and he will be missed by all of us," District 10 Legislator Jerry King said.
No funeral arrangements have been made.
Piche said the local Republican committees within the district will make a recommendation to the Board of Legislators for someone to represent the district.
He said there will likely be a special election next November.
