Stranded Ice Fisherman Rescued On Chaumont Bay

Posted: Updated:

A man who had been stranded on the ice on Chaumont Bay Tuesday afternoon was rescued.

7 News reporter Garrett Domblewski was on the scene on Route 125 on Point Salubrious.

He said volunteers with the Chaumont and Three Mile Bay fire departments went out to look for the man, but in the end, a group of friends located the man and rescued him.

Officials said the man had been ice fishing on the bay when snow and wind created white-out conditions. He had been stranded for about an hour before he was led back to shore.

An ambulance was standing by as well as officials from the state police and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The man was not taken to the hospital.
