Robert I. Hazard, 89, Lacona, passed away Friday, January 5th at the Carthage Area Hospital.
A prayer service will be 10:15am Monday, January 8th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home followed by an 11 am funeral mass at Holy Family Church, Winthrop St., Watertown, with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in the spring. Calling hours are Sunday, January 7th from 2 pm – 4 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife Ann, Lacona; a daughter and son-in-law Denise and Scott Gray, Watertown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Hazard, Sandy Creek and Robert Jr. and Bonnie Hazard, Carthage; five grandchildren Joshua (Kasia) Hazard, Melissa (John) Scanlon, Paul (Katie) Hazard, Robert (Leanne) Hazard and Anthony (Beth) Hazard; several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Richard Hazard.
He was born in Syracuse a son to Milo and Irene Hazard. He graduated from Sandy Creek Central School in 1946. Mr. Hazard was a self-employed finished carpenter, owning and operating his business called “Mr. Kitchens” of Lacona, his entire working career, retiring just a few years ago.
He married Ann Edick January 17th, 1948.
Mr. Hazard was an avid snowmobiler and was a certified youth instructor in snowmobile operation.
