Students Eat In Gym After Pipe Bursts In School Cafeteria
A burst pipe flooded the cafeteria and kitchen at Augustinian Academy in Carthage.
School officials say a pipe over the stove likely burst Sunday and flooded the area with about an inch of water.
Water was briefly turned off while the fire department and school custodians helped dry the floors.
The pipe was fixed and water turned back on before students arrived at school.
"It was something that we could take care of before our students arrived today, without having to miss any more school, in light of all the school that's been missed because of the snow and the cold," said Mary Ann Margrey, principal.
The cafeteria was closed for the day while it dried out.
Students ate lunch in the gym or in their classrooms.
