Nearly a month after a man's skeletal remains were found in Ogdensburg, police have confirmed his identity and disclosed the cause of death.

Police said Tuesday that the remains were those of 48 year old Thomas Larose of Ogdensburg. In addition, his death has been officially ruled a suicide.

Larose was reported missing to the Ogdensburg Police Department on September 29, 2016, and had not been seen since August 25, 2016.

The body was found on December 18 in a wooded area behind the BOCES Northwest Tech building on Park Street.

Following the discovery, a source told 7 News that police suspected the remains were those of Larose and that he may have been the victim of foul play.

The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police Criminal Investigations Unit, the New York State Police Forensic Investigations Unit, Coroner Kevin Crosby, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney Gary Pasqua.
