Breaking Up The Winter Humdrum With ... Cornhole?

Posted: Updated:

It's a game usually associated with hot summer nights and cookouts, but the competition was on Tuesday night at the Watertown Fairgrounds.

Paul Simmons has organized a cornhole league and says it's already gained traction in another part of the country.

"It's huge down South," he said. "It really is."

Simmons says he wanted to give folks something fun to do.

"And the idea being is it gives everybody something to do in the wintertime on a Tuesday night," he said.

This isn't his first go at making a cornhole league.

"We actually have formed a cornhole tournament that I have brought to my Sunrise Rotary team."

Not only is this a fun pastime, but it's also for a good cause.

"The proceeds will go to different fundraising events and activities that we're trying to hope for," he said.

Simmons says he wants one thing out of this league: "Fun."

There are still spots open and anyone can join.
