Jolonda M. Wilson, Watertown, 98 passed away at Samaritan Summit Village Monday, January 8th. Mrs. Wilson had been a resident of Summit Village since September of 2013.
Born November 7, 1919 in Watertown she was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Huczel) Tepfenhart. She was a 1937 graduate of Watertown High School, and worked as a sales clerk at Empsall’s Department Store for several years.
She married Stephen A. Szaybel September 28, 1940. He passed away fighting World War II in Germany April 10, 1945. She married William C. Wilson May 19, 1951. He predeceased her October 26, 1995.
Jolonda worked at New York Air Brake during World War II and was a volunteer at the Mercy Hospital gift shop and the hospitals auxillary. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, cards, and crafts.
Surviving are her two daughters Judith Vespa of Watertown and Christine Werno, Willow, North Carolina; grandchildren Julie (Todd) Martin of Watertown, James Vespa of Watertown, Sandra (Tim) Burnett of Watertown, David (Allison) Vespa of Adams, Michael (Hannah) Werno of New York City, Matthew Werno of North Carolina; great-grandchildren Leslie Martin, Eric Burnett, Evan Burnett, Emma Vespa, Layla Vespa; sister Helen Grant of Watertown; nephew Ron Tepfenhart of Brownville; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by two siblings, Mary & Tony Tepfenhart.
The funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 13th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Spring burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. A calling hour beginning at 10:00am will precede the service at the funeral home.
