Posted: Updated:

Funeral services were held Thursday for Monsignor Robert McCarthy, who passed away Saturday at the age of 99.

Priests from throughout the diocese took part in the noon mass at Watertown's Holy Family Church, where 21 years of McCarthy's more than 70 years as a priest were spent.

Affectionately known as Father Mac, he served as chaplain for the Watertown Fire Department for many years and was known as the carnie priest for providing spiritual services to carnival workers.

Monsignor McCarthy's final resting place is Glenwood Cemetery in the town of Watertown.
