With solar projects gaining ground in the north country, Lewis County officials got a chance to learn more about them Thursday night.
The county's Industrial Development Agency hosted an information session with representatives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
About 30 people from towns and schools learned about how to negotiate tax deals on solar projects and how to assess their values.
Denmark town Supervisor James Der said the session was helpful.
"We have a developer that is interested in putting at least one project in our town, there have been a couple of other developers with interest," he said. "So we as a town need to determine how these projects are assessed and what revenue there is for the town."
Der says the town also needs to consider if it is beneficial for residents to subscribe to solar power for cheaper rates.
