The last of the vessels that were trapped inside the St. Lawrence Seaway have left the system.
Seaway officials report that the Federal Biscay -- which was trapped by ice inside Eisenhower Lock fir several days -- left St. Lambert Lock in Montreal Tuesday evening.
That officially closes the Seaway's Montreal to Lake Ontario section.
The Federal Biscay became stuck on January 2, blocking four other ships.
It was freed a few days later.
All five ships left the U.S. portion of the Seaway on Tuesday, closing that portion of the inland waterway.
The Seaway was scheduled to close December 31.
