Watertown Firefighters Union Wins Legal Battle

Posted: Updated:

It's a win for Watertown firefighters in one of their ongoing legal battles with the city.

The firefighters union filed for arbitration after the city demoted eight fire captains.

The city fought to block arbitration, but now the state's highest court, the court of appeals, has ruled in the union's favor.
Arbitration could force the city to reverse the demotions.

Despite losing the decision, the attorney representing the city says he is "relatively confident" about the outcome when an arbitrator hears the case.
