Heavy Snow Expected Through AfternoonPosted: Updated:
Snowfall rates could reach an inch per hour Wednesday afternoon.
That's as winter storm warnings continue for all of the north country except northern parts of St. Lawrence County.
A winter storm warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties ends at 4 a.m. Thursday. For southeastern St. Lawrence County, the warning ends at 1 a.m. Thursday.
Places in the warning areas could get 6 to 10 inches, with as much as a foot possible for some.
The snow won't be as heavy in northern St. Lawrence County, where there's a winter weather advisory until 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Places there will see from 3 to 7 inches of snow.
The heaviest snows will likely happen for a few hours Wednesday afternoon.
All that means slippery roads and poor visibility at times.
Snowfall is expected to weaken overnight. There could be a few flurries Thursday morning, otherwise we'll see a mixture of sun and clouds.
