Art Exhibit Opens Tonight in Watertown

Posted: Updated:

The North Country Arts Council presents “You Got Inked!” featuring the work of artist Melissa
Green. Her display will feature vibrantly colored alcohol inked paintings on a variety of media.

After viewing a video on alcohol inks two years ago, Melissa experimented with them and by the summer of 2017,
she found her “inking niche” and has been creating in the medium ever since. “I’ve fallen in love with their vivid
colors, their versatility, the way they react and move…pretty much everything about them,” she notes. ”I love it
most when I light them on fire and watch them dance.”

The exhibit opens with a reception from 5 pm to 8 pm Friday, February 9 at Arts on the Square, 52 Public Square,
Watertown
and will be on display from February 6 through February 24. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments
will be served at the opening. Admission is free, but a $5 donation to benefit the North Country Arts Council is
appreciated.

Melissa’s love for ink painting has prompted her to experience with all kinds of surfaces, from yupo paper, to tiles,
glass and Christmas ornaments. Her class Inked Wall Hangings will be February 10 at Arts on the Square from 2pm
to 4pm.
